Togo’s sports writers body, Association des Journalistes Sportifs du Togo (AJST) together with the country’s Sports Ministry have decided to organize a match in honour of the late national team coach, Stephen Keshi.
The match is supposed to be between the 2006 Togo national team set and the current Hawks squad.
“The game is between players of the team that Stephen Keshi qualified for the 2006 World Cup like Emmanuel Adebayor and the present generation of the national team,” Aime Ekpe, president of AJST told Goal .
“Negotiations are taking place (with the NFF) and the match would be played either in Lome or in Lagos,” said Ekpe.

The Nigerian managed the Togolese senior national team (the Hawks) and qualified them for the 2006 World Cup in Germany. He was however replaced with Otto Pfister at the World Cup and then brought back after poor performance and controversies surrounding the Togolese team in 2007.
Keshi died on the 7th of June, 2016 in Benin City, Nigeria aged 54.
Keshi, a former Super Eagles captain and coach, had two stints as head coach of the Togolese national team, after the 2006 period he returned to take charge again.
